No Borders Detainee Support Group

No Borders Detainee Support Group are holding a meeting this Friday, 13th October at London Action Resource Centre, 62 Fieldgate Street, Whitechapel, London E1 1ES (6 - 8 pm).

The meeting is for people who are thinking of starting visiting people in immigration detention, or have started already and want to improve their skills. It will include a brief talk from No Borders visitors covering the main aspects of visiting and supporting, followed by an open discussion. Some ex- detainees will be attending.

Report from London demonstration

Several hundred people took part in the March for Migrants' Rights today in South London, starting off from the Imperial War Museum and marching up Borough High Street before pausing at Becket House in St Thomas Street, a Home Office 'reporting centre' where asylum seekers have to report and may be detained without warning. The march finished with a rally in Tanner Street Park in Bermondsey.

One year after the escalations in Ceuta and Melilla a broad network of migration related initiatives call for freedom of movement in a transnational day of action. In dozens of cities in Europe and also in Africa manifestations and demonstrations are in preparation for 7th of October.

Raggae Benefit

Just letting everyone know that from 8am-2pm this Friday (15th Sept) we are having a REGGAE PARTY! at the Ramparts Social Centre, 15-17 Rampart Street, Whitechapel, London E1 to raise money for the demo on Oct 7th. Suggested donation is £3, with cheap drinks all night.

Feminist Fightback & Anarchist Bookfair

A busy day for London No Borders on Saturday October 21st. We will be holding a meeting at the Anarchist Bookfair at LVSC in Holloway Road, North London.

On the same day we are also supporting a workshop on asylum seekers and refugees at the Feminist Fightback conference, taking place at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
