Migrants Solidarity Network

No Borders London is supporting the new Migrants' Solidarity Network. The Network has agreed the following founding statement:

Migrants' Solidarity Network

Shahin Ghaydari

On Monday 17 July, 62-year-old Iranian refugee Shahin Ghaydari was detained after going to sign at Dallas Court Reporting Centre in Salford. She was taken to Yarl's Wood Detention Centre where she went on hunger strike refusing food and water for five days, the hottest days in British recorded history. She is very sick and also mentally ill. She was not allowed legal representation and has no solicitor.

International Day of Action Planning

No Borders London is supporting the European Social Forum's call for an international day of action for migrant rights on 7th October 2006. The 3rd Day of Action will be directed 'against the denial of rights, against the criminalisation of migrants and against all immigration controls' and for equal rights for all migrants, the closure of all detention centres and an end to all deportations.

A planning meeting for the day is taking place on Saturday 22 July, 12 - 4 pm at Transport House, 128 Theobalds Road, London WC1 (see map).
