Hunger strike at Brook House

Since earlier today (Monday 19th October), over forty of the Iraqis returned on the charter flight to Baghdad, and others, have been on hunger strike in Brook House immigration prison, Gatwick, demanding their release.

Protest against Arora's detention plan

Six activists from No Borders London today (06 Oct 2009) held a protest at the Arora International Hotel near Heathrow airport against Arora International's plans to turn its four-star hotel at Gatwick, Mercure, into yet another immigration prison.

Fronco-British "Charter" to Kabul: The Odious Show Continues

A Franco-britannique deportation "charter" is scheduled for October 6 flying to Kabul. While the humanitarian situation and security continue to deteriorate in Afghanistan, that there has more civilian casualties than ever, and NGOs such as the Secretary General of UN expressed particular concern about the situation, France and Great Britain are trying, as they did in November 2008 with a joint operation. Afghanistan is a country at war. It is unacceptable to refer those that have fled to seek protection in Europe.

Hunger strike in Calais

PRESS RELEASE

EMBARGO 10AM FRENCH TIME, TUESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER

As of 9am French time today 11 migrants in Calais started a highly visible hunger strike. The migrants, from regions including Iran, Afghanistan, Sudan, Palestine, and Egypt, say they will continue the strike until Western countries co-operate to offer them asylum. They are also demanding that no migrant in Calais is readmitted to Greece, Italy or Malta.
