French police exploit scabies epidemic to clear migrant camps

A squat in Calais, occupied by dozens of Afghan migrants, was destroyed yesterday morning by the French authorities under the pretext of an anti-scabies operation.

The French government is exploiting a scabies epidemic to clear the migrants from the ad hoc encampments known as the "Jungles" in the Calais area.

Rally in front of detention centre in Calais, 22nd August

SATURDAY 22nd AUGUST from 2pm
RALLY in front of the DETENTION CENTRE (CRA) OF COQUELLES near CALAIS

In Calais since 2002 and the closure of the Red Cross centre at Sangatte many migrants
wander along the coast of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, hoping to find a way to get to England.

In Calais more that 1000 migrants live in the woods (the "jungle") and in squats, in
indescribable conditions.

"Activism and its borders" - No Borders workshop at the Anarchist Bookfair

The annual London Anarchist Bookfair is taking place this Saturday 24th October, from 10am-7pm at Queen Mary & Westfield College, Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS.

London No Borders is hosting a workshop there entitled "Activism and its borders - reflections on the Calais No Border camp" from midday-1pm. We will also have a stall there all day.

No Borders stall at Reclaim the Future 5

Reclaim the Future 5 is a vast all-day party event in a liberated, self-managed occupied venue somewhere in London (venue to be announced)

There will be workshops, debates, discussions and stalls from noon - 7pm

Info on: the arms trade, the G20, prisoner & detainee support, squatting, samba, permaculture, climate change, bike repair, etc. etc.
Cafe area, vegan food

Cinema all day and night (provisionally pedal-powered)
