Death in Oakington immigration prison, Thursday 14th April

At 4am on Thursday 15th April a 40 year-old Kenyan man detained at Oakington immigration prison near Cambridge died after being refused medical care by G4S staff.

There were day-long protests and a stand-off between detainees and police following the death. More than 180 detainees broke through the gates of one of the detention centre's compounds and occupied a courtyard, preventing police and coroners officials entering the room where the man's body lay. 60 of the "ringleaders" of the protest have now been moved to other detention centres and prisons.

Visit to camera-shy MP Meg Hillier, 12/04/10

On Monday 12th April, activists from London NoBorders signed up for MP Meg Hillier's twice monthly surgery at Hackney Town Hall.

Protests at Policing the Borders conference and WH Tours

On Tuesday 23rd March, London No Borders activists protested at the "Policing the Borders" conference in central London, and managed to shut down the conference. See the video here.

On Saturday 27th March, activists from London No Borders and No Borders Brighton had a protest at the WH Tours office in Crawley. WH Tours are a coach company that transfer immigration detainees to airports to be deported. See report and photos here.

Demonstration at the French Consulate in London, Tuesday 9th February

London NoBorders and No Borders Brighton call for a demonstration at the French Consulate in London (opposite the National History Museum on Cromwell Road) to protest against the repression of the new Kronstadt Hangar project in Calais by the French authorities.

Arora Hotel Conversion: Protest at Crawley Council Meeting, December 7th!

On 7th December London NoBorders is calling for a protest outside Crawley Town Hall (The Boulevard, Crawley, West Sussex RH10 1UZ) to protest Arora International's plans to turn its four-star hotel at Gatwick, Mercure, into yet another immigration prison.

On that day Crawley Council will discuss the planning permission. People who want to raise questions in the Council Meeting can register beforehand.
