Harmondsworth Demo Pictures

Around 200 people took part in the demonstration outside Harmondsworth and Colnbrook detention centres last Saturday 10th February. The protest called by No Borders London was a colourful event with samba bands and lots of banners. We were joined by No Borders supporters from Leeds, Nottingham and elsewhere. Former detainees and asylum seekers from Zimbabwe, Congo, Burundi, Iraq and other parts of the world spoke of their experiences, and a message from current detainees was relayed to the rally via telephone.

Defy ID

A leaflet produced by Nottingham Defy ID, February 2007:

Groups and individuals in the Defy-ID network have for the last few years been campaigning against the introduction of a national ID scheme, biometric upgrading of passports, and the surveillance society in general.

At the same time, No Borders have been tirelessly protesting against maltreatment and incarceration of asylum seekers in detention centres and against repression by government (and privately run) immigration ‘services’.

Harmdondsworth Demo Planning

DEMONSTRATION OUTSIDE HARMONDSWORTH & COLNBROOK DETENTION CENTRE 10TH FEBRUARY

There will be a planning meeting next Sunday 28 January 2007, 2.30pm at the T&GWU offices, 128 Theobalds Road, WC1X 8TN(5 minutes from Holborn Underground Station). This should be the last planning meeting for this demonstration. It is vital that this is a strong large event, representing many communities, especially migrant and refugee communities, in solidarity with the detainees, to fight this detention centres and all others to be shut down. We all need to get together to plan and mobilise to make sure that it is a success. So please come along. In the meantime people can pick up leaflets from the International Solidarity room in and by the leaflet racks at the T&G.
