Lufthansa-owned British Midland International (BMI) plans charter deportation to Afghanistan

According to information received in the last few days, Nottinghamshire-based British Midland International (BMI), owned since last year by the German airline Lufthansa, is planning a deportation charter flight to Kabul, Afghanistan, this Tuesday 15th June.

In the last few months BMI have taken part in deportations to Sudan, Ethiopia and Iran.

1st-6th June: European Week of Action Against the Deportation Machine

From the 1st-6th June, the Stop Deportation network has called for a European week of action for an end to deportations.

In London, there will be demos outside the city's two main signing on centres, Beckett House and Communications House, on Tuesday 1st June, a discussion entitled "Challenging Deportations: past, present and future" on Wednesday 2nd, and a demo in Parliament Square from 2-4pm on Saturday 5th.

Protest against WH Tours , Crawley, a company which hires coaches for mass deportations, used to transport detainees from detention centres to airports.

Beckett House and Communications House demos, 1st June

As part of the European Week of Action Against The Deportation Machine, there will be demos at both London's reporting centres on Tuesday 1st June.

European Week of Action against the Deportation Machine.

Stop Deportation, along with other groups in Europe, are proposing a European Week of Action Against the Deportation Machine, with a focus on joint European mass deportation flights and Frontex. The proposed date is the first week of June 2010, 1st-6th.

Protests at Policing the Borders conference and WH Tours

On Tuesday 23rd March, London No Borders activists protested at the "Policing the Borders" conference in central London, and managed to shut down the conference. See the video here.

On Saturday 27th March, activists from London No Borders and No Borders Brighton had a protest at the WH Tours office in Crawley. WH Tours are a coach company that transfer immigration detainees to airports to be deported. See report and photos here.
