Detainee Support

No Borders London Detainee Support group are holding a training day on Saturday 11th November @ LARC, 62 Fieldgate Street, 12noon - 5pm. The proposed timetable is as follows:

12 noon: introduction + short film showing

12.30: 1st workshop: Supporting detainees and people thretened with deportation. What are our aims / Visiting / Phoning/ How we work. Presentation by a visitor and ane ex- detainee who is now working with us helping others. Open questions.

2 pm: Vegetarian lunch ( by magic hat)

Barbed Wire Britain Conference

Barbed Wire Britain, the Network to End Migrant and Refugee Detention, are holding a conference next Saturday 14th October 2006, 10.30am-4.30pm, at the Human Rights Action Centre (Amnesty International UK,17-25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA.

No Borders Detainee Support Group

No Borders Detainee Support Group are holding a meeting this Friday, 13th October at London Action Resource Centre, 62 Fieldgate Street, Whitechapel, London E1 1ES (6 - 8 pm).

The meeting is for people who are thinking of starting visiting people in immigration detention, or have started already and want to improve their skills. It will include a brief talk from No Borders visitors covering the main aspects of visiting and supporting, followed by an open discussion. Some ex- detainees will be attending.
